I suppose these are the typographical version of my naturalist series. The elements of what inspires me, broken down into their simplest form and strung around the neck. You'll find vintage typography sewn throughout my body of work; born directly from these letters and numbers that I stumbled upon years ago while browsing through a Portland antique shop.
We were on a little get away right before Christmas.
It rained most of the days we were there.
We stayed in a super quaint hotel in the Rose District.
We drank from breweries and stayed up talking about our life; past, present and future.
And I came across these tiny antique metal letters; believe to be pulled from vintage mail boxes. I gathered every last one of them up and brought them home.
I used a few letters immediately, and the rest have been inspiring my work from a glass jar on my bench. I've soaked up every ounce of their inspiration and have incorporated three dimensional typography on many pieces since I found these; becoming a signature part of my stylistic voice.
Now, I wanted to use them simply. A sweet way for you to be inspired by them too. Take them back to their simplest and truest forms.
